Donald Trump fires Prejean as Miss Cali
Wednesday, June 10, 2009
Controversy should be Carrie Prejean's middle name. The media frenzy surrounding Miss California first began when she answered a question about gay marriage during the Miss USA pageant. Then semi-nude photos of the 21-year-old later surfaced, which critics argued was a violation of her pageant contract. But Donald Trump, who owns the Miss USA pageant, determined that the photos did not violate her contract and let Prejean keep her crown.
Then in a shocking twist, Shanna Moakler, Miss California USA pageant director, resigned from her post after Trump's decision to let Prejean to keep her crown. Bet she's kickin' herself in the tush right now because The Donald has had a change of heart.
Trump just announced that Prejean has been stripped of her crown based on her "unwillingness to make appearances on behalf of the Miss California USA organization."
Tami Farrell, the first runner-up to Prejean in the Miss California USA competition, will take over her responsibilities, according to pageant officials.
