David Arquette to live in box to fight hunger
Friday, July 10, 2009
Step aside David Blaine, you've got a Plexiglass box-living competitor who will soon hit Madison Square Garden. Actor David Arquette says he will be living in some clear quarters -- a box to be exact -- for two days next week. But he's not pulling the stunt in the name of magic; he's doing it to help raise money to fight hunger.
You may know Arquette for pulling faces and adding comic relief to 90s horror classic Scream. But this time, he's trying to provide some relief for the nation's largest domestic hunger relief charity, Feeding America. The 37-year-old actor wants to raise $250,000 by living in a box above the Madison Square Garden marquee for eight hours on Tuesday, and another eight hours on Wednesday. In other words, he's not pulling a 44-day, no-food extravaganza as his beady-eyed illusionist counterpart did while living in a box in London back in 2003.
Arquette is also calling on the public to help. Fans and philanthropists may donate via text message or a Facebook page set up by the candy bar company Mars Inc.
If you recall Blaine's stunt, you know his eyes were full of tears as he emerged from the box … telling London he would love them all forever. Well, we're not sure whether Arquette will be sentimental about leaving his Plexi-partment when the two days are through. But we know a pat on the back isn't what this actor is looking for. Hearing that he helped feed a family will sound far more sweet than any applause ever could.

Please, eight hours a day? How different is that from working 8 hours a day. That is not living in a box, that is just doing some time at the key hours. Sounds more like a publicity stunt to draw more attention to him. Why doesn't he put some of his own money up to help the hungry???? That would be better than sitting in a plexi-glass box in Madison Square Garden for some time.
